GPA Calculator
Enter your course grades and credit hours to calculate your weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Calculate your GPA accurately
The GPA Calculator computes your weighted grade point average on the standard 4.0 scale. Add each course with its letter grade and number of credits, and it instantly returns your GPA, properly weighted so that higher-credit courses count more. Add as many courses as you need.
How GPA is calculated
GPA is a weighted average: each course's grade points are multiplied by its credit hours, those products are summed, and the total is divided by the total credits. This means a 4-credit course affects your GPA more than a 1-credit course with the same grade. The calculator handles the weighting automatically.
The 4.0 grade scale
| Grade | Points |
|---|---|
| A / A+ | 4.0 |
| A- | 3.7 |
| B+ / B / B- | 3.3 / 3.0 / 2.7 |
| C+ / C / C- | 2.3 / 2.0 / 1.7 |
| D / F | 1.0 / 0.0 |

Weighted vs unweighted
This calculator produces a credit-weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale, which is the standard for most colleges. Some high schools use a different "weighted" GPA that boosts honors or AP classes above 4.0 — that's a separate system. For typical college GPA and most general use, the 4.0 credit-weighted method here is what you want.
Tips
- Enter credits exactly as listed by your institution for accuracy.
- To project a target GPA, add hypothetical future courses and grades.
